Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center's programs are known collectively as "The Souls of Our Feet-People of Color Dance Festival." The program represents a commitment to exploring such issues as culture, gender, spirituality and other areas that impact the human spirit. As it stands now, the program consists of five dance curatorial programs at any one time. They are: Mixed Nuts; Toenails of Steel & Ruby Red Text; Urban Dandelions; Women Dance Makers;and Peeks.
The diversity of our programs reflect our commitment to creating opportunities for dance artists representing a diversity of community interests and techniques. For example, "Toenails of Steel & Ruby Red Text" is a curatorial performance of works by same gender loving choreographers and writers of color. They explore with their works, new dance forms and ideas, combining dance and spoken word to address social and cultural issues unique to the same gender loving community.
With performances, classes, workshops and seminars, THPAC hopes to create more public participation in the arts, especially in dance, giving the public a great reason to participate in the many activities that THPAC offers.
